How to make small space look larger (ideas :-)!!!

For most of all, space in our home is usually restricted. Unless you live in a house that is a Mansion and Villa, I think you too need to manage with whatever space you have. I prefer to use the areas in my home strategically than to live in a mansion that will make me spend more on cleaning and managing a larger space. Sometimes, we just need to give refreshing change or I would say facelift and makeover to whatever room and space we have. Here are some of popular and not so popular methods to make a room look larger than it really is!!

  1. Create a Focal point in the room :

Creating a focal point in a room is great as it makes our eyes stuck to the certain part or point of a room.

You can play with prints and patterns in a wall, or place only one furniture, chest or cupboard that is a statement in itself.

This will trick the eyes of the persons entering into the room and attention won't be on the tight space.

You can even place a soothing or eye catching artwork to fake a view or distract from architectural flaws.

  1. Give your window some Treatments:

Hanging Curtains and rods in the window from the ceiling to the floor will make a room look larger.

Matching the color of curtain and drapes with wall color will only add to its enlargement. So keep matchy matchy in tight space.
For more precise look, please have a look on the image below by apartment therapy that i fell in love with. Always hang curatins wider in width even for small width windows in a tight space and from ceiling to floor to make the room appear larger.

  1. Choose Glass or Lucite Furnishing

It may seem costly to many but placing furniture, specially a table made of glass or Lucite will make the room larger as they will disappear when looked in a room with other things.

Can you notice the lucite dining table in the image below. You almost didn't notice it in a group right ?

  1. Give your walls some Stripes Treatment:

Giving walls and floors stripe treatment is budget friendly and will make a room feel larger.

Place a rug with stripe pattern, in a room or in staircase, this is a simple trick.

  1. Mirrors are always a hit

Everything made from glass in a room, it will make a room appear larger. Decorating with Mirrors make a room look spacious.
Let Mirrors shine in almirahs or just let it be an art itself. This is one of the cheapest ways to maximize a small room, or just to feel it's been maximized.

  1. Choose items with functionality

Choose furnishings and decorative items that offer maximum functionality in minimal space. We should use two small round tables instead of one big coffee table which are easier to move around.

Thankx for the read and I hope this post selects some of the major changes with little efforts in a tight space that needs attention. We all need some ideas isn't it? :-)

Summer dressing up with an edge (Recycle your outfit !)

There are times when we tend to realize that jacket hanging in closet is of no use in summer, monsoon and autumn days. That old sundress is too old to use and recycle. But we need to re think again. Because here are the ways to let style factor flourish regardless of change in weather. Now sit back and have a cuppa of tea/coffee as i am doing while writing this post.

Simple, comfortable and stylish outfit ideas in every season are easy to channelize with some great ideas that will save us from breaking the bank and celebrities often show us how. :-)

Style Tip 1 : Mixing up with Bold and statement making accessories

Have a pastel colored sundress or any dress and you are bored wearing it in every season repeateadly ! No need to get bored. Wear that ever friendly sundress you have, mix with shoes/sandal in contrast color. Red is versatile. And wear a bold watch. I would have worn watch of my Dad or Huby. :-) That's it. Look yourself in the mirror. Smile for what you have. You need not go head to Toe Matchy matchy. Explore color with contrast.

Here, Gwyneth Paltrow experiments with creamy white skirt and some understated fun with accessories that is not too loud.

Style Tip 2: Enjoy being a Lady with Polka Dots

Kerry Washington has shown that the classic print Polka dots is modern, not matronly. We can go for feminine pieces and add simple yet sexy versatile accessories like steel grey purse, shoes. Showing a little skin via V shaped neckline and/or arms via cap sleeve is a super classic.

This will suit even in every kind of profession for working women. If not a dress, we can even explore the magic of a good Polka dot V naked blouse/shirt for office.

Style Tip 3 : Floral with Leather Jacket

Florals are synonyms for dressing up in summer, i think. And it makes us look more of a lady and refreshens our overall look. Combine floral with Leather jackets; the look is much edgier and sharp. It has personality and substance.
Julianne Hough
Julianne Hough's outfit shows floral can be taken to an edgier direction. Her sweet printed pants get some attitude with motorcycle jacket and buckled sandals. That's much hint for us to recycle an outfit. isn't it ?

Style Tip 4 : Sweater in summer ? YES .

Shocked with the caption ? Don't be. Jessica Alba oozes like a fresh breeze in the street with a crocheted sweater, fun shades, and floral kicks make jeans (especially pastel ones) feel light, fresh, and very cool.

Our regular Old Jeans in pastel color will look great combining with a pastel and/or bright hued crocheted top. This is slowing becoming a classic that will repeat in every season. With layers and some funky accessories of our own choice.

Style Tip 5: Monochromatic dresses that is party ready

Dress in a single color and that is airy but looks sexy and needs no more accessories is just SIGH !! The fierce Red summer dress of Eva Mendes can take her right from street to date night. A floaty dress  is fit in her body frame and shown alluringly against curves, while a pastel-green bag is the color you don't expect, but love.

It's all about realizing and respecting what we have and how we can re purpose. Think, think and think again. You never know a dress hanging far in your closet can make you still look a princess in your own!

Musings of a Style Enthusiast

I've been continuously asked these days why didn't I take up to fashion and interior courses! Instead of giving some comments while answering them, I ponder into deep thoughts as it was what I wanted to be in real. I loved style, I loved nature, I loved interior, putting things together for a beautiful looking result.

And I still heart all of it till now. But hey, I am into banking profession as I was a management graduate before. So, does my passion and love for Immaculate style, Getting ready for any event, putting things together and home decor need comma/full stop? In my case, I don't think so.

Yes, there are many people in this world today who get to study as per their personality and follow their instinct through their jobs. But how many?? For me, I was brought up in a tiny small village looking town (with full of life I would say) with dreams in my growing mind. Lack of adequate courses matching my personality; I took up to Management as many of us still do. And it has turned me a Banker today. If not a banker, I would have been a Bureaucrat, a Government Officer or something like that; but no....never a Style maven fashion enthusiast, Stylist or Designer or Interior Decorator.

Now, my profession has turned me into a person with patience and I think twice before I speak. These are the best things we get in people related jobs. You grow with all the persons and happenings around you and that is same with me as well. Deep inside me, there is still a fashion maven, style lover who lets her wings whenever I am off duty :-).

I would like to applause those who fearlessly take risk of changing profession and get start from scratch. For love of ones' personality, for the way they are, for their inner peace; change is what they prefer. While I stay away from thoughts of getting into new profession due to fear of dependency. I am independent and I love the fact.

Having said that, I will still continuously respect inner ME and follow my heart. Style and Passion for anything Never dies.

Is your thought different of mine or you agree with me ? Thoughts are to be shared :-)

HOW TO WEAR PASTEL COLORS ?

Monsoon is in full bloom here in Nepal, and I've been getting attracted to pastel hues along with all those bright and bold colors. However you may regard pastel hues as the color of spring, but as I always assume colors don't have restriction, it's the mood and feeling which makes us to prefer one with another as season changes.

Pastel hues are one of the hit trends in runways last year and I don't think it'll disappear from our sight! Pastel colors are the lighter (or sometimes lightest) hues of any group of color. It looks good in home decor and wardrobe all year round which is a good reason to wear pastel shade. So, here we go for How to wear pastel shades.

Style Tip 1. : Wear Pastel with Contrast Color

Pastel looks great when pairing with contrast color. Black, Navy, Brown, Emerald; choice of contrast color is all ours!

Style Tip No. 2 : Pastel Monochrome

Monochromatic obsession continues and pastel is no exception. Single color of Pastel hue looks divine and feels cool to the eyes.

Style Tip No. 3 : Pastel in/with Prints

Prints are everywhere and combining it with pastel colors is never too loud or too casual. Perfect for day wear as well as dressier events, this combination is my personal favorite as prints can camouflage our bulgy area and pastel is never loud.

Style Tip No. 4 : Pastel Color Blocking

Color Blocking is here to stay. When an outfit is worn in 2-3 different solid colors (Not prints) it's called 'Color Blocking'. And pastel color blocking looks good for a cool summer afternoon.

Work your clothes in your favor. Have a Stylish day ahead. :-)

Style Inspiration: Princess Letizia

A Cloth is just a piece of cloth if it's not adorned by the person wearing it. In simple terms, I always see there is a good reason to learn style and sophistication. Clothes are the epitome of culture to many of us and it is widely a matter of personal freedom and perception for how a person should dress. Chances are, be it any occasion and place, how a person is dressed will always be the 1st thing while creating an impression willingly or unwillingly. And dressing for no one but you will create immense self confidence as per my own experience.

Now hope you got the point. We are again into the style file of one of the persons who constantly appears in the International Best-Dressed List. She is H.R.H. Princess Letizia of Asturias, who resides at Zarzuela Palace, outside Madrid, Spain, is married to Prince Felipe of Asturias, the heir to the Spanish throne.

The 37-year-old royal’s favorite luxury boutiques are Armani, Gucci, and Burberry, and the fashion items she can’t live without are peep-toed and platform heels. Look for her accessorizing with a Tous charm bracelet inscribed with her children’s names, as well as Yanes, Cartier, and Suarez jewelry, and carrying handbags by Amazona de Loewe, Yves Saint Laurent, Burberry.

But WAIT!! No need to get panicked for the branded name as many of us will find it difficult to afford the style with those products in our common lives. Still, there is a huge way out for getting some style tips that can be found in the Princess's style book. Let's turn the pages of style tips that is eternal and timeless, that is what I am partial to.

Style Tips :

1. Choose Monochrome to Elongate Height

Seriously!! Monochrome actually means the outfit in a single tone of color head to toe.  Either short or long, Princess Letizia often shows us her inner fashion sense that is fresh in fashion circle but timeless in history of style.

Monochromatic in bold or pastel, light or darker tones, selection depends upon individual preference. And dressing in a single tone of color always elongates one's height, as per stylists.

2. Choose for the perfect fit

A perfect fit is actually the fitting of outfit in one's body without looking too tight or too baggy. Choose a dress or any outfit that fits your body in proportion and flatters your overall look. It applies to every kind of body, shape and height. Fitted suits, sheaths are what Princess Letizia chooses for formal trips and meetings and we can't take our eyes off her. Can we?? :-)

3. Prints with neutrals

Prints are everywhere this season and Neutrals (black, navy blue, white, beige, cream etc.) are always a classic. Mixing these together will instantly upgrade the way you look. Either in the form of printed leggings or Printed and patterned skirts Princess Letizia has been wearing for formal outings, these are one of the timeless look that will never be out of style.

4. Neutrals with modern vibe

While wearing neutrals like black, brown, white, navy; Princess Letizia either gives modern appeal to classic look with her hairdo or cut and fabrics.

5. Again, Elongate Height with High waist and wide legged

Now, it sounds similar as we've seen Michelle Obama's style, donning it gracefully. Princess Letizia is another one who has been wearing wide legged high waist pants which certainly elongates heights and is definitely a corporate look to try for.

6. Color is 2nd Neutral

I agree. Color is for every season and gives sense of happiness wearing it. Afraid of looking too loud with vibrant ones? Explore coral, emerald, tangerine, and aqua. These shades give calmness and look great in almost every skin color.

Age is half how we perceive of us. This is what i have learnt from the experiences and outlook of people around me. And how we dress definitely is a part of it. Aging gracefully can be shown through wise selection of silhouette that suit our own body frame rather than what looked good on whomsoever. My Style Inspiration posts always try to emphasize on very fact. have a happy reading and channelize your own inner princess. Thankx for stopping by.
