NEON in Home decor

While it's been quite a time I have posted something related to home. Now this post is all towards creating bright and cheerful moods in home which can be done incorporating splash of colors here and there. No, don't even think about big budget requiring projects. I am seriously not into them :-).
While you all must have been heard about 'Neons'; Neon is the brightest shade of color which have been popular and quite a trend in outfits and accessories mostly the Fuchsia Pink, Bright Orange, Purple, Parrot and Lime Green colors.

But have you ever thought how Neon color makes a room or any corner beam with brightness! The sparkly trend is quite a scene nowadays and in Spring and Summer ? Just go, get it done. How to make Neon color work in home decor? Stay with this post. Here are some ways to make the Neon color work in our home.

# Have Plain and White walls ? Spruce the room up with Neon accessories.

The accessories can be simply done by changing the covers of the cushions, bed linens, painting, lights and/or rugs. Options are unlimited.

# Balance is the key.

While making splash of some color, you don't need to overdo them, Just make sure you are not creating whole riot of colors in one place, keep as simple as sprucing up one corner at a time, or one area or only accessories at a time.

# While with Neon, Keep it simple.

You need not have to add new furniture and accessories with whole lot of your money. As simple as a vase, light stand, a bright frame or a cushion can play to your Neon rhythm.

#Make the complementary colors work.

Grey colors work wonder with Fuchsia pink, Limes and yellow. So does Green with white. So, while decorating with Neon, make most of those complementary colors.

# If painting is your choice this summer, designate a wall, or a cabinet, or a whole kitchen to your choice of color.

Hope you come up with some great idea to share with me. So, will you give some color to your home this year? Or this post doesn't help you in any way .....I will love to know. Have a great time ahead.

Celebrate feminity with Floral Applique

We have just celebrated International Women's' Day on 8th of March though I am still not agreed with the idea of dedicating a ONLY a single day in a whole year of 365 days!! The dedication of the celebration demands implementation and still a matter of debate worldwide. The feminine side of women also comprises of inner power, mental strength and endurance. Actually this post is so small sphere to cover what women really are.

However staying in the positive vibes of the Women's day (what this Blog is all about), Let's celebrate our womanhood through Floral Appliqués trend that has appealed to me and I am enthusiastic about its use in our daily lives. While floral trend is still a huge rage in fashion and interior; Floral Appliqués is a technique that decorates an item with Floral patchwork or accessories. These appliqués can be used to enhance anything you desire! You can apply these pieces by sewing, Velcro or gluing. It can be used to embellish purses, revamp an old or plain T-shirt/dress by appliquéing your own floral designs onto it. How to use Floral Appliqués trend? Just scroll down :-).

Floral Appliqués in Bridal Wear:

Bridal and Bridesmaid dresses and gowns are always there to grab the limelight. A hint of floral appliqués and it's ready to steal the show. Big, Bold ones or very small delicate floral appliqués, almost every pattern of floral appliqué is attractive in Bridal wear. Appliques in same color and fabric as of the gown gives delicate and ethreal look.

Going Traditional; Use Floral appliques in sarees and Lehengas:

As far as our very own eastern wear is concerned, floral appliqué will only enhance it's attractiveness and feminine vibes which are these popular for. Designs of appliqués can be chosen in a wide range.

Gowns and dresses love floral appliqué:

Look at the red carpet appearance in past and present ! Some finest examples of floral appliqués are found in UK and USA. Using it in various seasons in all summery dresses is what I've liked the most. Go for contrasting floral appliques in gowns and dresses to make some statement or choose same colored one if you are in demure mood.

Use Floral appliqué to enhance an old sweater, T-shirt, Tops and even dresses:
Give your old outfit a facelift with floral applique. As said earlier in this post, you can go creative and design for yourself and decide what works best for your top and sweaters.
Inspirations are many.

Floral Appliqués in Accessories:

I loved the sweet and girly look of these accessories that are easy but not overdone with floral appliqué. Spring and summer seasons are the best to use it in accessories.

Home Decor with Floral Appliqués:

Sky is the limit for home decor ideas and can't be restricted in right and wrong way. Give your home decor a 3D touch of floral appliqués that is simple yet statement making via Bed Linen, Cushion and pillow cases and covers, table liners and what not!! Just explore yourself, channelize your own creativity and be Designer for your home by yourself. This time, I am saying this to myself :-).

I love the 3D look that Floral appliqué has to offer. However it depends upon our own idea whether to use it in home decor or dresses. Is floral appliqué way too feminine to give a try for you or how you would like to use it in your life? Blogosphere is one of the best place to share.

Rendezvous with Nepali Wood Architecture

Nepalese don't have as rich history as French and Italian have, still I certainly can say the country has some of its feature that one will find ONLY in NEPAL. Forget the corrupted political system, poor governance of state and VERY slow growth in economy for a while. Living in NEPAL is not as bad as it seems either. When we talk about Art, Craft and Architecture; one of the least developed countries in the world has a lot to offer.

No, this post is not about Majestic Himalayas and one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. Instead, what made me compulsive to dedicate this post this time is the Wood Art (Art crafted in wood) exclusively by the local Nepalese craftsmen.

Wood art and crafts can be found in temples, ancient public rest centers, palaces built in 17th century and even old fountains extensively found throughout Kathmandu valley and other historic cities. These are widely popular for the beauty and class it reflects and gradually some Nepali households are adorned with these stunning Nepali wood art.

Have a Look at them; you will instantly fall in love with the beauty of Nepalese Wood Art:

Nepali windows are remarkably used in modern buildings which are often used for resort and hotel purposes which are attraction for majority of tourists as well. Use of wood art in Nepali windows and fountains is something that makes our buildings and tourist sites exclusive and different from that of other countries.

Personally, I will always recommend to use wooden crafts in the windows, doors and pillars of houses to built in Nepal. Not only it will give traditional touch to the modern look of concrete buildings, it will preserve Nepali culture and enhance the look of the house as well.

One of the finest examples of Nepali architectures found besides palaces and temples is Hotel Dwarika and Hotel Malla situated at Kathmandu, Nepal. Words can never be capable of describing the splendid beauty with simplicity the Nepali wood art has to offer which is illustrated in every nook and corner of Hotel Dwarika.
Hotel Dwarika, Kathmandu, Nepal
I love and respect the way the wood art of Nepali history is preserved in Dwarika Hotel and other hotels throughout the country. One will certainly feel the serene and harmony residing in the hotel which has so much to offer through wood art sprawling in the area of hotel.

A building looks totally different with wood crafted doors and windows. While the cost to include traditional Nepali window in all over the house is quite expensive compared to iron and steel windows, we can't deny that it will be investment considering a home is built only once (or twice) in a lifetime of a family/person. So, if not everywhere, including Nepali wood art in Doors, entry ways and Windows at the front of house will make any home look lavish and it will be a matter of proud to pass on to generations.

After all, it's upto us how we preserve our heritage and culture. Little effort always makes sense. How would you like to use Nepali wooden art and crafts in your home and office? Have you already used it? Sharing is Brainstorming.
